Typical conference, see venue pictures, where contacts are made for the future and you learn a lot about areas you are not focused.
I had two presentation, one titled “Social Networking to support Collaboration in Computational Grid” from my current work, and another one titled “Group Selection pattern optimizing agent-based Virtual Organizations in Grids” from Isaac Chao thesis work. Both run smoothly and no serious objetion were raised, but interesting comments.
As always, presentation from US people were the most innovative and connected to the real world. The director of TeraGrid says that Google, IBM, Microsoft and other are buying 25% of all computing capacity in US: they have big plans for the world. Research-wise, new concepts are being explored as the “virtual cluster”, but the question they have in mind is “how will be the computer and the network in 100 years?…”
